Hilla Steinert and Elize Vossgatter

Hilla Steinert is active in performance, dance and installation. She lives and works in Berlin. With a background in dance, she has created performances for more than 20 years. Space, time, material and the input of her own body are the basis for her artistic work. Hilla’s main artistic concern is to retrieve and visualise connections on all levels and her works are characterised by her ability to establish contact.

This contact is realised in her collaboration with Cape Town-based artist, Elize Vossgatter. Primarily an oil painter, Elize draws on mixed media to explore a central theme of our unnatural relationship with the natural environment. Stylistically, her works pays reference to her Germanic origins.

This collaboration has been a goal of the two artists since they met six years ago.
