Aphiwe Mpahleni

Artistic director, dance instructor, choreographer and founder of the Moving Stories Theatre Organisation, Aphiwe Mpahleni is no stranger to Infecting the City, having taken part in the festival over three consecutive years.  With a degree in Dance Pedagogy from the University of Cape Town Mpahleni’s has an array of national accomplishments under her belt, including involvement in 2011 Dance Umbrella Festival, Baxter and Mandela Festivals in 2012, the opening dance of CHAN in 2014 and choreography direction for Zabalaza in the same year and for which she received a Best Newcomer Director award, Iqonga Creative Arts, Uhambo, Azishe, Zabalaza festivals through 2014 to 2016 and winner of 2015 Theatre for Change, Best Female Choreographer.
