Darkroom Contemporary

Innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration define this dance theatre company.  Based in Cape Town and founded in 2010 by Louise Coetzer and Oscar O’Ryan the company regularly stages works in unexpected performance areas, as a means of transforming ordinary spaces into intriguing, multi-faceted arenas.  Project collaborators have included dancers, physical performers, visual artists, sound designers, photographers, filmmakers and digital artists. Darkroom Contemporary has implemented a wide range of performance, film, developmental and educational initiatives in the Western Cape and Gauteng. The company operates as a non-profit organization to promote dance, theatre, and dance film through a variety of projects.
