Sibeko is an award-winning dancer and choreographer, specialising in South African dance styles and what has become known as an African contemporary form. He has performed, taught and choreographed numerous national and international theatre arts festivals, working alongside renowned theatre-makers. He was recently awarded the DOX award from the Netherlands, which gave him the opportunity to teach and choreograph at four Dutch universities and theatre companies.
Sibeko will be co-curating two programmes for ITC 2019 – Programme 2 (Tuesday and Wednesday), a day-time event traversing the city centre from Thibault to Greenmarket Square; and Programme 6 (Saturday and Sunday), inside and around the Castle of Good Hope. The first programme is imbued with classical African tradition, ritual and ceremony, and the second programme focuses on land and healing at various sites around, in and overlooking the very contentious Castle of Good Hope.
Artists Sibeko is collaborating with include Siwela Sonke and Indoni dance companies, Mzo Gasa, Bulelani Mabutyana and others.
