Kopano Maroga is a performance artist, writer, cultural worker and co-founding director of the socio-cultural arts organization ANY BODY ZINE. They are a programmer and dramaturg at Kunstencentrum Vooruit in Ghent, Belgium. They are currently a Masters candidate in Interdisciplinary studies in Public Spheres and Performance Studies at the Institute for Creative Arts, University of Cape Town. They have worked with the multiple award-winning contemporary dance choreographers including Alan Parker, Celeste Botha, Kristina Johnstone and Jan Wallyn, as well as award-winning theatre maker Neil Coppen. They are a recipient of the Kanna, kykNet Fiesta and Woordtrofees for best supporting actor for their performance in Coppen’s play Buiteland/Newfoundland. Their writing can be found online on Art Throb, the Mail and Guardian and Gati Dance’s first journal Strategies for Resistance.
