Sanjin Muftić with Amy Jephta
Sanjin Muftić is a Bosnian-born Canadian theatremaker, film editor and lecturer based in Cape Town. He has designed production videography, produced cabarets and an acclaimed children’s play. He has directed several Howard Barker texts and a Hamlet, while also co-devising his own multimedia work. Sanjin was Head of Acting at the CityVarsity school of Media and Creative Arts until recently and is currently completing his drama PhD at UCT focusing on the Planetary, Bricolage and Theatrical Images while working as a Digital Scholarship Specialist.
Amy Jephta hails from Mitchell’s Plain, Cape Town and works variously as a filmmaker, playwright, screenwriter, director and academic. An alumni of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab in New York, Amy has worked as a mentor to community-based theatre groups and has been a voice and acting lecturer in Cape Town, Vancouver and New York. She has held fellowships at the Orchard Project Episodic Lab (New York) and the AfroVibes Festival (Amsterdam). As a playwright, her work has been published in South Africa and performed in Cape Town, Stockholm, London and New York. Amy has been named as one of the Mail & Guardian's 200 Top Young South Africans, is the 2017 recipient of the national Eugene Marais Prize for Drama and the 2019 recipient of the Standard Bank Young Artist Award for Theatre. Through her company, PaperJet Films, she now produces for film and television and will direct her first feature film in 2020.
