Those Ghels

Those Ghels deconstructs the representation of women's bodies in contemporary music videos. The performance begins with the artists dancing, recreating movements from various 21st century songs that have shaped the manner in which women think about themselves and behave. Behind and onto bodies of the performers, are projections of music videos juxtaposed with videos taken of everyday people. Mimicking each other and the videos, the artists comment not only on how women view themselves, but also on the male gaze.
