Genna Gardini and CityVarsity Cape Town

Genna Gardini is a writer based in Cape Town. She holds a MA in Playwriting from UCT and is currently a lecturer at CityVarsity. Genna was named one of the Mail & Guardian’s 2013 Top 200 Young South Africans, won the DALRO New Coin Poetry prize, and was nominated by PEN SA for the 2015 PEN International New Voices award. Two of her plays have won Standard Bank Ovation awards. She co-founded Horses’ Heads Productions and is a member of PlayRiot, a South African playwriting collective. Genna’s debut poetry collection, Matric Rage, was published in 2015 by uHlanga Press.
