Going Home
By: Marlin Zoutman
Going Home follows two dancers (Yaseen Manuel & Marlin Zoutman) on their journey home. As the pandemic stifled working opportunities for many artists, artists were forced to move from the city to their hometowns. The work highlights the differences of space, and how although these rural parts of South Africa have beautiful open spaces that are more “breathable”. It is also a place where creativity is not necessarily understood or embraced. Going home becomes the place in which artists are forced to go because there were no opportunities to create.
