Francois Knoetze is a Cape Town-based sculptor, performance and video artist. He is currently pursuing his MFA at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town. In 2012, he completed his BFA at Rhodes University with distinction.

His work explores aspects of material waste: the underlying value systems, network of processes, and set of social relations involved in the production, consumption and disposal of commodities. Francois has exhibited at the Cape Town Art Fair, Art Week Cape Town and National Arts Festival. As set designer and puppet-maker, he has been involved in numerous theatre productions, including works by the UBOM! Eastern Cape Theatre Company, Horses’ Heads Productions and Mike van Graan.
