Lesiba Mabitsela

Lesiba Mabitsela

Lesiba Mabitsela currently resides in Cape Town. After completing a BA degree in Fashion Design and Technology at the Tshwane University of Technology, he assumed the position of junior designer for St. Lorient Fashion and Art Gallery. He later took up an eighteen-month apprenticeship with designer Gavin Rajah.

Lesiba’s interests lie in the connection between arts and design, and the relationship shared amongst people within social spaces and subcultures. He also believes that clothing design plays a bigger role in society than what its superficial connotations suggest - that fashion can serve as a detailed timeline of human civilisation, addressing multiple subjects such as religion, technology, gender inequality and politics.
